I have the 100 permanently mounted in my car. I keep it low in the cup holder so that I can securely tilt it, to see it. One of the things I did was pretty much clear the screen off except for what I'm listening to in capital letters in the center of the screen and I have it set to 100% white text with black background. I use the newer model Larson 150 450 800.PSX_20190504_002248.jpg

I believe Upman had suggested the black and white mode in bright sunlight. There is a display called “a color transflective TFT display that provides excellent visibility night or day.” Kenwood amateur radio uses it in one of their portable radios, which I own and can vouch for what I put in “”. It’s a copied line right out of the description of their radio. I expect Uniden will upgrade future models at some point, or maybe offer it as an option. I haven’t heard of anyone swapping out the Uniden display with a TFT... yet! But the TFT’s do what you want.

Yep, Paul suggested white on black for a reason! You're saying a TFT display is on your wish list for a future Uniden model?, sounds good to me, I'll pay whatever it cost. Got to go with what we've got... unclutter the display. Mount It low, out of the light, have the display facing you directly at 100%. Pretty much better than we've ever had before on a consumer scanner. Also works with polarized sunglasses. ;).

I like your style, and am trying to emulate it. Wondering how you got the blank space between the "nnnnnnn..." and "Bucks County"?

Even though I make the System Name field black on black, it still shows up on the radio when in Detail Scan Display mode (trying to avoid the white lines between sections.) Any suggestions? Thanks

What does not help is that different people have trouble with different colors. Men generally have a more difficult time reading blue, for example.
(generally talking about darker blue hues)

So there is not a 'one size fits all' color solution. Try changing it to find what works best for your eyes.

That is the detailed screen. As you can see I removed most of the information on the screen that I just don't need, especially on the top. BUCKS DISP on the top right is the name of the favorites list. The line of small n's is the system name, I know what system it is so I just renamed it with a character available to make a separating line. I renamed the department BUCKS COUNTY and renamed the Channel ZONE 3.

That style, it's exactly how I programed my apx 7000.
