Sudden rush on those models or something else going on?

Sudden 'rush' on them perhaps due to the COVID-19 virus? If I was going to be stuck at home for a couple of week (and possibly more), I would definitely want to lknow what was going on in my community.

I see Amazon still has a couple of the 100's left and three of the 200's left. I didn't check on other models. Ebay still has some of both as well. Saw one listing for an SDS100 going for $999.99 and that 45 had been sold.:eek::eek:

Plus you have to add tax when buying from most states using Ebay!

This post is about the BCD536HP but I think Upman told us the same thing specifically about the SDS100 (I just found this post first). The bottom line is that they give priority to their distributors over their own website sales. There have been other threads about this ... the SDS100/200 showing "sold out" on the Uniden website is normal.

I've been studying for my Technician's license andhad given prior thought to a scanner. But know that I'm stuck at home I said, "I want to know what's going on in the community!" So I broke down and ordered one. It's on the way. I've also been thinking about purchasing a YETI generator.

This has been discussed several times before.

Not since the pandemic was unleashed, previous discussions happened mostly when they were first released and were in short supply.

Tough to tell if this is a sign of a run on comm equipment or not. Dealers have them in stock, I just got a 200 on sale for $240

A new SDS200 for $240? Where? I just bought an SDS100 for $649 at Bearcat Warehouse.

I meant $640, must have been stuck on 2's.
Bearcat warehouse had a 24 hour sale the other day, I posted about it but the thread was locked due to other matters

I didn't see any of the other posts. I actually did a search but nothing relevant showed in the first couple pages of results. Probably bad terms I used.
Quite interesting that Uniden gives priority to the dealers over their own online sales, that's oddly impressive.

I've been on the fence about splurging on one for a while now. Hard to justify spending that much on something I don't "need". Especially if the other half found out how much they cost. But that display is just awesome compared to other scanners that would do.

I've been waiting months for a price drop from a reputable dealer, $60 off was too much for me to resist even with the cloud of uncertainty with this virus thing hanging over everyones heads.
If other dealers start running out of stock then we'll know they are having inventory issues, whether caused by surge of demand or supply problems ,, But its not unprecedented for Uniden to post "not in stock" on their website, its happened at least 2 or 3 times since the scanners have been on the market, and each time most of their dealers were still stocked.
