When I started my SDS100 tonight (short time owner) the screen displayed BCD436HP rather than SDS100. Have I been duped when I bought the SDS100?
With me, anything is possible. My era with scanning was to enter the 5 digit frequency, save ir and move on to the next channel.
My first experience was purchasing a converter device, tune my AM transistor radio to a frequency, turn on the converter and hold it next to the AM radio and hear the local police frequency. It actually sounded great and it worked. There was no scanning or changing the frequency, just the police channel.
If your display has color characters, you have a SDS100. The BCD436HP has a mono display.Have I been duped when I bought the SDS100?
I am learning something new almost every day. The simulcast group of local city still has some distortion that I wish would go away. It is better than the 436 I purchased earlier, but not perfect. I have found talkgroups that show "unknown" on the dept ID but not in the RR database. I have been able to identify a few and I will post a list of results after I cultivate a few more. The SDS100 is a terrific top-of-line, state-of-the-art scanner, you'll have a great time learning to exploit its potential.
I know I have.
My advice would be take the time to get to know the Sentinel software, it's pretty good and the key to understanding all the features of the SDS100 scanner.
Yes. SDS 100.Does your scanner look like this?
I have not attempted to change display colors as yet. I need to X out an entire day and just "mess with it".If your display has color characters, you have a SDS100. The BCD436HP has a mono display.
Under the Tools tab of Sentinel, the Target Model must be set to SDS100 or SDS200 to have access to the Edit Display option.I have not attempted to change display colors as yet.
I actually have both and a HP II.If your display has color characters, you have a SDS100. The BCD436HP has a mono display.
You own an SDS100 and a 436HP? When you use Sentinel did you select the correct "target" radio model? My guess is it was probably left on 436HP from the last time you used it. You may have duped yourself 😉I actually have both and a HP II.
Thank you for the response. Yes, I selected the correct each target when I worked on those individual scanners. You own an SDS100 and a 436HP?
