Hey there, I would appreciate any input on the following.

My Uniden x36’s and 996 were all impacted by my proximity to a 50KW digital TV8 broadcaster.
Wiped out VHF public safety but resolved with a PAR notch filter.

Anyone familiar with the tuner chip care to speculate if I would more or less issues with desense and the SDS100 on VHF high.

Thanks!

If the PAR filter attenuates the signal by 30dB it will equal the 50kW transmitter to a 50W one. If it where 40dB you for sure would be good to go with a SDS100 in VHF. 50W might be what people have when they are desensed by a nearby pager transmitter.

It depends on the distance to the transmitter and the VHF gain from the antenna you use. And some people have no problem at all even in RF hell so it might also be a quality issue with some SDS100s receiver chip.

If you're in band, within 6-8MHz of the interfering signal, I would say you are very likely to need the filter, even out of band there is a high probability, only way to find out is to try one.
