Hi
I just bought the sds100.
I paid to unlock all 3 extras on the unit. Another $150 additional...from the $650 of the main cost of the unit.
I have programmed manual and used sentinel to add favorites.
I am not getting anything. No traffic
I only get some traffic when i go to full Florida list and then only some air traffic and fire/ems not local sheriff.
Sheriff is not digital.
I am willing to pay someone to help me over the phone.
Looking for 2 groups- lee county florida and collier county florida.
I have used sentinel to add groups from radio reference and they are the same.
I have followed all the videos from several people on youtube and im missing something.
Help.

D.

Welcome to the forums. I'd recommend posting your Sentinel .hpe export file as an attachment on this thread so someone can check it for errors. Directions here. Could be as simple as disabled service types but favorites lists in question also have to be set to "Monitor On"
Press MENU key> SET SCAN SELECTION (E) > SELECT LISTS TO MONITOR (E) > Scroll to select the favorites list containing the system and press "E" to set it to "On". Please also peruse the easier to read manuals I linked below (for the scanner itself & for Sentinel respectively)

As donc mentioned, service types are ones that seem to trip up new users. When the scanner is shipped, and also when Sentinel is first installed, the only service types enabled for public safety are for Dispatch: Law Dispatch, Fire Dispatch, EMS Dispatch, and Multi Dispatch.

Also enable the Talk and Tac service types for these, such as Law Talk, Fire Tac, etc.

If you are using location control, be sure that you've updated the location in your Profile in Sentinel. If you programmed manually, rather than by appending systems & frequencies from the main database, you would have to manually add the location details if Location Control is used on the list(s).

Looking at the database pages for both Lee County & Collier County, I see that both counties have trunked systems that are not linked on their respective database pages. Did you include any of these?

As Whiskey3 has mentioned, be sure that your Favorites lists are set to be both downloaded to the scanner, as well as monitored. As also suggested, after you export your Favorites lists so that someone can take a look, that will create *.hpe files. You cannot directly attach those to a post. So, after the export, use Windows Explorer (aka File Explorer) to find your exported files. Then, <right><click> on one of them. You will get a pop-up menu asking what you want to do next. Select Send to, then on the small menu that then appears, choose 'Send to Compressed (zipped) folder. That will create a copy of the same file, but with the *.zip extenstion. You can then attach the zipped files to a post.

No list attached. Remember that only a few file types are allowed to be added to a post. Be sure to zip it before trying to upload.

A lot of law enforcement in Florida is fully encrypted and I looked in the database to see if that was the problem, and the note on the Lee County P25 system said that it was reported that the whole system would be fully encrypted by April of 2011. I'm not seeing DE on every channel, but even if it's not, it looks like all the LE talkgroups were encrypted to begin with. Sorry.

Sheriff is not digital.
Looking for 2 groups- lee county florida and collier county florida.

Both Lee and Collier County Sheriffs are in fact digital on the P25 systems with Collier showing total encryption and Lee showing some encryption according to the database. I am not sure if the Lee County sheriff is still operating on the analog smartnet system or if Collier County Sheriff is still using the Edacs system. You would have to ask in the Florida forum.

As pointed out by @JethrowJohnson , its noted, Lee County was looking to fully enc the P25 phase 1 system 11 years ago. There are three trunked systems in Lee and only two show entries for Sheriff. The analog smartnet system shows close to 60 talk groups for Lee County sheriff's and the P25 phase 1 shows 10. The phase 2 does not reflect any Lee County sheriff talk groups.

It was mentioned here that Lee County LE seem to be encrypted.
Guys, any new info on Lee County LE channels? All appear Encrypted so ar on my findings.

It was mentioned in this thread that all law enf is encrypted on the Lee County P25-2 system

All been working on the New Lee County P25-2. Seems after a lot of searching talk groups all PD's have gone to encryption. Getting tired of listening to FD, EMS and Trash trucks. LOL not finding this really fun anymore.

But then @maus92 mentions locking out pd so your best bet with Lee County is to ask if they are or are not encrypted in the Florida forum.

I lock out the county cops because most of their work is routine traffic stops - but the city police are entertaining as they don't do much traffic but are chasing knuckleheads regularly

@Kidkick01 You just bought the scanner. Did you update the main database in Sentinel and push it to the scanner? Your best bet is to ask in the Florida forum if the two analog systems are still in use and try those.

Lee County has 6 trunked systems and @batdude , who is a Florida database admin is looking for help to figure out what's in use and what's not.

I know things are still in a bit of disarray down there in Lee County --- but --- there are SIX 800 MHz systems listed in the RR Database for Lee County.

Lee County, Florida (FL) Trunked Systems (radioreference.com)

I would appreciate someone going through those in the coming weeks/months to figure out what is on the air and what can be deprecated from the RR dB.

thx!

If you only want to hear law enforcement in Lee and Collier County, you may as well return the scanner or try to sell it.

Law enforcement in both counties are encrypted meaning there are no scanners capable of hearing them. However, Fire and EMS along with county services can be monitored.
