So I have been listening to scanner for 20+ years, when SERS first came around, I bought a BC246. I obviously have it programed and all the information saved.
Today I upgraded to NEW SDS100.
I am using BUTEL software and trying to import my data that I took from my old scanner.
I created new HPD file with a new site.
Then entered the frequency on the sites tab.
Then created DEPTS, and then entered the TGIF for each dept.
I do not see what I am doing wrong.

I have tried it with no nation wide database.
I have tried with nation wide database.
I have tried only one dept and site with the frequencies.

I have my other scanning playing so I know when people are talking and new scanner is not getting anything.
Does anyone have any help.
I am willing to have you remote in and give me a lesson of what I am doing wrong.
I did update the firmware.

I appears to be scanning as it says ID scanning.
There is no voice.
When I enter the menu, I hear beeps, and screen works.
Just not stopping on TGIF.
I guess It could be not getting signal. how would I test that?

Sentinel software is really good and designed for these newer radios. I'm not familiar with BUTEL. I would start by seeing if you can pick up the control channel via band search or manual conventional (make a new conventional system and put the site frequencies in it).

If you get data on the frequency then its your programming. If you don't get data then its the radios inability to recieve the frequency.

Let's start there.

I concur - I would also suggest for you to use Sentinel to program. You just pull the data from the database and let IT do all the work.

Or...... (you need change the extension back to .hpe)

Also, this probably should be in the WA State forum...?

Thank you for the file.
I installed it into sentinel, and it looks similar to the fav list I created.
When I write this to scanner using sentinel I get nothing to scan.
Highlight my fav list.
I install usb cable and press E. Hit write to scanner. program looks like it writes and says write complete.
I unplug usb and scanner reboots, and then says nothing to scan.

The Favorites List and / or system / and or services are not enabled.

You'll want to bookmark and read that link.

Thanks for telling me there was a monitor button to push.
In the Sentinel profile, you must have both Download and Monitor enabled for the favorites list when you write to scanner. Download sends the file to the scanner. Monitor enables it to scan. If you attach your ARC536 file, I will check it for problems.

Monitor is probably the most common of all issues with a FL or system not scanning. The radio boots up faster if it only loads things you select as opposed to the entire library.

MENU - SET SCAN SELECTION - SELECT LISTS TO MONITOR should become a very frequent place for you.

Thanks I will send the file that I created from my BC246XT using same freqs and talk groups in the format I am used to.
It up loads and scans, just no voices.
I do have it working with sentinel but I need to take lots of time and void what I dont want.
So that tells me it works, and getting signal. Just way to much traffic then wanted.
Just rename file to .hpd

I added the .hpd extension, but ARC536 does not recognize the file. I also tried to import it into Sentinel as an .hpe file. You can go to the File tab in Sentinel and Export to hpe file (Favorites List). Right click on the exported file and Send to Compressed (zipped) folder to be able to attach it. You can also change the file extension from hpe to txt to be able to attach it.
