Hey All,

I have been doing some research and found nothing so I decided to come here, I have an Uniden BCD436HP scanner with a SMA TO BNC converter, will this one work with the SDS100?? I cant seem to find an answer and I am wanting to purchase the SDS100 but not have to buy additional accessories.

Just need a quick answer.....

Thanks everyone
DH.

The SDS100 also comes with a compatible SMA-BNC adapter, it's included. No need to purchase one separately. I'm pretty sure it has the rubber washer thingy to keep the SDS's splashproof rating. The 436 does not have that.

I don't like the idea of an SMA to BNC adaptor - the SMA connector is not designed to take a lot of force on it, it's only thin metal and often just mounted into a hole in a plastic case and a couple of wires to the PC board. Much better to get an SMA to BNC jumper lead of the correct impedance.

There is no need to buy a SMA/BNC connector when they have one that works fine. I am talking about the piece of crap adapter that comes with the SDS 100. It is absolutely worthless. Why? The damn thing kept loosening for this listener. So, I found one that is much thinner.

At present, I found this one, but let me try to find the one I ordered:
SMA Male to SMA Female Connector | Scanner Master

Now, I remember. It came from Airspy. It seems that it is not in stock now. It works great. This link does not show or describe whether it is a SMA/BNC. I am pretty confident that this is the one I own.

jonwienke used to sell a nice adapter with a shoulder on the bottom to help seat it on the SDS100 correctly. Unfortunately, he's been absent since November of last year.

I went to the Airspy.us site and it looks like they are in stock. I was able to add them to my cart, but I didn't check out as I have one already.

The problem with the OEM adapter is that it provides no support for the SMA connector. Even the wide base adapters without the shoulder provide more support.

To be on the subject to the original question. No, the adapter that comes with the 436HP is too big to fit properly on the SDS100.

In my opinion, the slimmer SMA adapter, not to BNC, works so much better than the one that comes with the radio. It kept loosening.
