I've been asked by someone to troubleshoot a backlight issue and I'd like to get it right the first time.

His SDS200 is installed in a vehicle, orange wire gets power when the ignition is turned on. Scanner
powers on/off with the ignition.

The backlight reverts to the low dimmer setting even though it was at high when he turned the vehicle off.

He manually sets the backlight dimmer to high again during vehicle operation and is at high when he
turns the vehicle off.

The next time he turns the vehicle on, the backlight dimmer is back to the low setting.

Can I make some changes in the "Display Options" to fix this?

Settings are saved to SD card upon turning power switch on scanner off. If the scanner is shutting off by interrupting power then it doesn't have a chance to save settings, thus reverts back to previously saved settings. Orange wire is for sensing when headlights are on.

Try making changes and then gracefully powering off scanner to save settings.

Connecting DC Cable with Orange Wire
Connect this cable to the vehicle’s electric system that receives power when you turn on your
headlights. Now your scanner’s display will automatically dim when you turn on the headlights.

If you dont want the scanners back light controlled with the vehicles dash lights dimming function, don't connect the orange wire...
Scanners backlight will then only be controlled from the scanner settings itself...
