A little more. . .

Sites are the transmitters that broadcast radio traffic. A talkgroup, depending the system, may "affiliate" or be allowed to use multiple sites.

Best thing to do is program all the talkgroups you may be interested in hearing as well as those sites that are within about 30 miles of you monitoring location.

Yes. I took a P25 P2 system I had downloaded from RR into Sentinel and then created a Favorites List and edited it. I took one of the towns that was using the same site(s), and changed the town’s name and TG’s to what I had determined was for a another town yet to be listed in RR. I guessed at the TG’s by following previous practices when creating TG’s. So, yes, you can do as you ask. Wondering if you tried to do it before you asked?

Guess this is a question I should have asked before: Are you asking about editing Talkgroups in the main Database? If so, not very easily. Editing the full database can be done, but it carries numerous risks of fouling things up real bad.

Not to mention it changes every week with the updates…

If “it would only be an issue if the updates in question pertain to your state. County, city, etc.” is true, create FL’s instead. Editing the Full Database can become tedious in a hurry, as you have mentioned. Editing on this level gains little. But if you like to tinker with the database, by all means, enjoy. I have no objection to tinkering. Who knows, you may be on to something, maybe an “Easter Eggs”, backdoors to coding etc. await you but otherwise it’s only another way to kill time.

My thoughts here should in no way dissuade you from whatever it is you care to spend time on provided the owners of the database have no objection… they may even be interested in any findings you come upon, as an unofficial beta tester!

Operator error on part of my brain, disregard 😬 I can usually give some sort of explanation on my thought logic, but not here.
Carry on, cheers 🍻
