SDS200 for $99

The ad is misleading. You get only SDS seeds. They have to be planted then watered everyday. In a year or so, you'll have a fully-functioning scanner. One thing they didn't mention: for an extra $99, you can get a built-in waffle maker. I think I remember Upman mentioning that that would be an available option.
That’s not how chargebacks work. Chargeback losses are put back onto the merchant (the seller) that initiated the transaction. You get too many of those and you get penalties on your merchant account and possibly get kicked off the processing network.
Visa/MC/etc. does not eat the loss and pass it into customers.
(I own a small business and process credit cards, so it’s a topic I’m somewhat familiar with as I have skin in the game)

That scenario works fine only if the seller is legitimate. Good luck to the bank trying to put a chargeback on that merchant, they will have the same success rate with that as you will getting your scanner. The merchant will collect as much payment as they can from fraudulent internet storefronts and ads, then simply vanish and move on with a new name and more victims. Nothing new, happens all too frequently, and they are very experienced and skilled at the game.

I ran into something similar when checking out the BCD325P2 where one site had it for $94.99. At first, I thought cool! Then again my reason and spider sense kicked in and my inner voice said, "there is something wrong with that." I put the brakes on that fast, one thing I learned from Magnum P.I. as he always said, "if you do not listen to your inner voice, you will get into lots of trouble" plus a fool and his money are soon parted. It's better to buy from a reputable, known dealer like Scanner Master, Universal Radio, etc. or from the manufacturer themselves. I do miss Radio Shack, at least you can get a hands on look at the GRE/Whistler line and limited Bearcat stuff.

Actually they don't, there are federal regulations on stupidity levels and I would say you'd be s*** out of luck here.
