Tornado season #2 in Oklahoma...

So after referencing the bound copy of "Easier to Read Uniden SDS100/200 Digital Scanner Manual" (Scanner Master) it didn't explicitly say, but leaves the impression that the Weather Alert tone volume level can not be adjusted. Presuming that's true, could it be made adjustable in a future release? It's just TOOooo loud. I have cats and a kid that sleep during the day (when I'm usually running the SDS200) (the kid and cats work at night!). The Weather Alert is at least as loud as my smoke and CO detectors! I get it - some will argue "...and that's a Good Thing" or maybe even that "The lawyers insisted..." or whatever. Fine. It can leave the factory at Spinaltap volume 11 if it must, but please give me access to adjust it later to a more suitable level at home.

Thoughts?

I believe to be "certified" as an All Hazards Radio the alert needs to be fixed and possibly a certain dB level. And I guess Uniden wants all scanners to be certified as such.

There is also a potential liability issue if someone does not hear the alert because it is turned down.

I have a far better suggestion, fix the total lack of an AGC, the CVO option is worthless, and on a $700.00 set that is very definitely a problem!

While not radio related, in my work we have a machine which sounds a loud alarm when it has a jam. The manager wanted it removed, we refused as if it stays jammed, it is both a production issue and also a safety issue, if somebody goes to use it when it is jammed.

If the features causes an issue, then don't use it. Imagine if it was possible to turn it down and then somebody sued Uniden due to this?
