I have found the same thing, Paul. Squeezing the front of the case reduces it. I have the factory fix and added some more tinfoil on top of that, but I guess I need more, too.
It would be super cool if they learned their lesson from the 436HP debacle and just designed it better in the first place.Sad for a $700 scanner. Uniden needs to fix the issue and not put a temporary band aid on it.
What do you think is happening when you push on the case? The noise is back --- Pressing on the top of the case near the plastic front control head helps reduce the noise / hum
I wonder if they will secretly fix this like the C1 cap noise fix and not tell anyone?
The only answer is to buy from somebody with a 30-day return policy and hope that the hum does not occur before that time runs out.
Crap here we go again. Of course we all know the hum is still there. My hum started when I got the radio and has never stopped since with all the fixes in the world. Wonder if the hobbyist could final get a fix for it. Even if we have to solder crap together that would be great. I can't even use an external speaker since it drives me absolutely crazy anymore. I just hate this HUM noise. I want to get use to it but just can't stomach it.
It would be a better radio than great if that hum noise would go away. I guess Paul is still recovering so dealing with an SDS issues or firmware upgrades is out of the question until he returns
