Scanner stops scanning. Acting like an issue with a microprocessor where a soft reboot takes care of it. The scanner will scan without issue for days at a time but every once in a while it will stop scanning. I’ve tried locking out whatever channel/site/freq it stops on but it will still stop scanning when it feels like it. It’s not too bothersome as it can be quickly reset-just wondering if anyone else has this issue? I did search but found nothing.

If you search deeper, maybe you'll find the various and mysterious reports of strange behavior caused by the SD Card.

I suggest trying a brand new one to see if that corrects the issue.

SD card failures, on several occasions, have almost cost me a trip to the repair shop. But alas, it was in fact the card. Make sure you do a full (not quick) format of your new card before use in the prescribed mode, which I believe is FAT32. Issues which would not appear to be related to the card occur, and in most of the cases, it is the card. Keep us posted.

Scanner stops scanning.
If you turn the dial it doesn't continue scan? Can you go into the Menu? Do any key work?

The scanner use a list of frequencies and their mode, analog or digital, and if it detects a signal it reads the additional information from the SD card. If there's some read error it could stop on that active channel and freeze. It could be the SD card or dirty connectors or a bad flex cable from the mother board to the card reader sub board.

Turning the dial does put it back in scan mode. I’ve replaced the SD card and done the prescribed formatting, then loaded it up with my FL’s. All looks good initially but since it was an intermittent problem, I’ve got to run it for some time and see if the issue is gone. Suffice to say it’s corrected unless I post again.

It could be stopping on a digital channel that sends data messages and not voice or control channel data. It is a known software bug if you have added voice channels to scan in a site and not only its control channels.

That’s not what I have seen. I understand how a data channel might lockup the scanner but I’ve only seen it stopped on conventional systems.

Next time it stops, set squelch to 0 and listen. If it's a digital conventional or analog using a subtone then push Channel and enter the frequency followed by Channel and listen using squelch 0. If it's a "clean" noise then probably read problem from SD card or similar issue but if you hear "unclean" noise with strange sounds and tones then it can be internal interference. Turn the dial to move some channel steps and compare how the noise sounds.

Some trunked systems also send out periodic bursts that will 'hang' on conventional channels. You can hear them by opening the squelch.
