Hi folks,
I am a feed provider here and the town I am a feed provider for is moving over to digital (P25 Phase II) shortly. I currently provide feed of the Police, Fire and EMS service for the town.

I have been working with the Police Department on their switch over and they have put up a test feed for me patching the Fire Department into the new system so that I can get setup and ready for their switch. They are almost ready to go, however they are waiting for a firmware update on their radios before they fully switch over.

Anyways I was just informed that because our EMS serves more then our town, that they will be staying on Analog and not moving to the digital system. This puts a wrinkle into my setup that I have working now, which was a PC setup with SDRTrunk. The issue now is I have no way of pulling in the Analog EMS into the feed that is being put out by SDRTrunk.

This means I will need a scanner, and since our P25 system for our area is a Simulcast system I am looking at the SDS200.

Some questions...

1) Can I scan both the digitial system and the analog EMS system at the same time?

2) I notice that the SDS200 has a lan port, can I stream to Broadcastify directly via the lan port?

3) Can I also stream from the SDS200 to the Broadcastify Feed system?

4) I notice the SDS200 does not have a record out jack so I am guessing I will need an audio splitter so I can feed the audio to my PC encoder (if sending audio via LAN don't work) and to some speakers so I can still listen to the feed as well.

5) I was just watching a ScannerGuys video and they mentioned that new scanners were coming, this move is expected in a few weeks, should I wait for a new model?

6) Anything else I should know before I buy one? Only thing it will be used for is sending the Police Fire and EMS to Broadcastify.

Thanks!

You can certainly program a trunked radio system and analog systems into the same favorites list but keep in mind you'll be bound to miss traffic the more systems the scanner has to scan through

Thanks guys, it sounds like this will do as I need.

I just put a new Diamond D3000N on the roof last week looks like I will need to get a SMA to BNC adapter. Other than that I should be good to go. :)

My SDS200 picks both up just fine. I've read some complaints on the analog side, but mine is spot on. Maybe it's the external antenna.

FYI. The new scanners DO NOT do P25 or any kind of trunking. Mostly worthless to many people Good for Rail/Air/Transportation monitoring.

the SDS does have an external speaker on the back
