Howdy all,
In my truck I use a BCD536HP / w GPS and a dedicated old Android phone running Siren to remote control the radio. The radio is mounted out of sight in the center console, and the phone is mounted on overhead console. So the phone is a remote head for the scanner, it has no other purpose in this installation. This is outstanding, because there was no convenient place to mount the scanner itself where I could see the front face.
Siren is a tad glitchy (sometimes fails to connect / see the IP of the scanner), but really, most of the time, this is an excellent solution for the configuration I wanted.
Now, my wife picked up a new Lincoln, and wants a scanner in it. But the same problem exists, no good, clean, place to mount either the 536 or the SDS200 where it can be seen and controlled.
I could do the 536 / Android solution the same as I have in my truck, however my wife would be a lot less tolerant of the Siren transient features (glitches), so realistically that is not a viable solution here.
Can the SDS200 be controlled in a similar way, with something acting as a remote head for it?
Alternately, is there another scanner on the market with location based channel control, a GPS to keep up with changing locations, and a remote head unit?
Thanks,
T!
