To answer your original question, no, Uniden has never released a serial number of when they started installing the hum buster. It does not appear they ever will. Some users report that with the hum buster factory installed and new firmware the hum is gone when not receiving any transmissions, but the hum reappears when a transmission is received. Others report no hum in any scenario. Some have even suggested that it is a physiological thing based on your hearing ability. The saga appears to remain the same...pay your money and take your chances. Though the hum free odds are probably better with the hum buster already installed than without. 
Make sure you buy from a dealer with a fair return policy (e.g. no restocking fee.) That is about the only way to protect yourself despite all of the anecdotes reported here. Enjoy!

What hum all I hear out of my 16 Uniden scanners is RADIO TRAFFIC.
So far so good, confirmed in my bank account today I was only charged $699 for the radio as promised, no shipping, no tax and the tracking number says it will be here by Monday.. Another HUGE shout out to Ham Station and Jeff... whoooop whooooop
