I sure hope you had time to prepare, feel free to chat.. being a community means more than just chatting about buzzing and antennas, we need to be here for each other in hard times as well.. hopefully you had time to prepare emotionally.

Hugs

My wife was a wonderful woman and an awesome wife. I'll miss her with all that I am. But, this is off topic and not relevant to the topic Needless, to say I have other things on my mind so my appearance on RR will be slim to none for a while. Thanks to all for your concerns and ptayers.

Nor am I, and I fully expect someone to chime in here anytime and say "if ya don't like it, send it in for repair, CLOSE THE THREAD"... eventually the sheep will stop drinking the Kool-Aid,

As it should be. There's a sticky with information for those that have the issue. Creating or adding on to a new post doesn't help the situation. The part that Uniden sends to you "mitigates" but doesn't "eliminate". I'm not sure what you are looking to do here...but if the intent is some sort of mass recall, don't hold your breath.

I saw your video, and with all my scanners running at the same time, barely heard it. Checked in a quiet room and yes heard the "processor noise" similar to when my computer boots up. Sheep we are not, but informed consumers you should be. Options are always to return a defective scanner, order the part and do it yourself, or send it in and let Uniden install it for you.

In some of the videos by members, I noticed a difference in speakers too. I'm no electrician, but if you're trying to make it sound like a firehouse speaker, then yes I'd expect the noise to be more. Home electrical systems could be the culprit too....I don't know. But..as in the sticky, the issue has been acknowledged, a fix has been offered and not much more to be done here. Hopefully the moderators will look at this post and lock it as well as it's just a repeat of the sticky...

I thought we were friends.... I thought we were friends Uniden.....

Wow Jen, you were right on the money with that one, you're a freaking soothsayer LOL.

Again as an informed consumer who has read everything I possibly can on this subject and wanting this radio so much after having good success with the SDS 100, I'm still interested in hearing reports from people who have RECENTLY purchased the radio, that can't be done on a locked thread. Do you or don't you and if so how bad? Also details on if you didn't, then did, how long did it take to happen. For those who did return the radio to Uniden for repair was it done correctly or was the chunk put on top of the felt? Did any units come from the factory that way?

If there is a series of serial numbers however short of radios that do not have the problem at all that would be great to establish also.

Censoring people and attempting to squelch new findings and opinions isn't going to help the problem either.

I'm not a hater either and I'm very genuine in what I'm saying here. I am truly a consumer advocate, not only for myself but... Everyone.

I was surprised to hear that units that had no hum whatsoever, developed the hum after use and they were with the mitigation device. That's new information to me and I'd like to know if there are more, regardless I think it's important for Uniden Tech to know about that.

Also, the post about receiving a radio from Uniden that had the mitigation device installed over the felt and the user had to remove the felt and clean the area then tighten up the radio again to mitigate the hum.

Then there are the reports that haven't come in yet and never will if we keep closing threads. It is my hope that Uniden Tech is looking at these posts and continuing to think about the problem. I just have to believe that's the case and that eventually this will all be worked out.

It continues to be an issue whether someone actively tries to sweep it under the carpet and ignore it or not and I would think Uniden Tech wants to solve it once and for all. I don't think they would just surrender to it like that, I think it's fixable but they know better.

Paul is not fighting the fight of his life only to return to work and not keep thinking about a solution for this problem. I think these discussions are helpful in doing that.

I would like to think that someday I'm going to buy this radio with confidence. Again, I'm very sincere here. Let's not give up hope.

I have just as much right to hope it'll all be fixed eventually as you have the right to campaign to shut down the thread and surrender.

I am a happy SDS100 owner who would like to buy an SDS200 but will not until this problem is fixed. I am watching for an update about an actual fix for the hum/noise.
Me too.

Yep, it gets real complicated with warranties and such so it would have to be a fix for the present model available and being sold. It would have to be something that everybody could apply to the present units. Even if it was a voluntary repair campaign like the x 36 models. For those who are severely affected I would think it was the same as the X 36.

If this thread was to pick up again and not be closed, make sure to share anytime you want, don't worry about being OT, just do it. People are listening and want to hear what you say (feel).

Lets see. Have mine now for 3 months and no hum. No problems....yet. Have not taken the case off to see if the mitigation part is there or not. Don't want to look. I might as well enjoy my scanner since no one will buy it from me for 900.00. Whoa is me.

I've noticed by some of your responses that you don't read all the post previous to the latest one.

That was the point here. I have an SDS 100 and I have handled and played with my buddies sds200 that has an annoying hum even with the mitigation Plus

I would like to buy an SDS 200 but I don't have the luck that I will be one of those people that don't have any hum at all.

It's clear that there is no assurance that you will get a radio without the hum and people are still getting them.

Glad you think it's so funny but I'm not out $700 for a radio I'm not satisfied with and don't really need but would like to have, between the SDS 100 and my Motorola gear I'm covered on P2 simulcast.

I also didn't spend a dime on a radio I would be disappointed with or would have to settle for.

As everybody keeps saying, it is what it is.

As long as people like you keep defending it it'll stay like it is.

Hummmm Bob...you're basing this on "one scanner that your buddy owned". All this ranting and raving and hammering a keyboard with complaints on a scanner you don't own? No defect here, installed part in the event I sell it. Did your buddy show you the "Audio Off Time" in the Settings menu and how it works?
