Kinda cheesy IMO, buying something with the intent to return it.
He said he would return the original one if something is wrong with it, which is what he should do. Nothing cheesy in that. It's $700.00! If it's defective that's whats cheesy. No fault of the dealer, but it should be replace or fully refunded. The dealer can square that up with Uniden.

The dealer should check the S/N and make sure the defective one they get back is the same one they sold.

Yeah, but if it turns out there's nothing wrong with the first unit, he's returning a perfectly good second radio because.......well, because it's a perfectly good radio.

I'm agreeing with that. Did you intend your reply to go to KKJUG?

No, I agree with KK4JUG.
Poster in question says he just might buy another one just to do a side by side comparison then return one or the other, IMO that is cheesy. If he thinks the unit is defective most people would take steps through the settings to see if reception can be improved, check their antenna/coax ect, then return the unit if its not up to snuff, not buy another one knowing all along one or the other or both is going back.

Maybe I missed understood him. I thought he implied if in fact the first one is defective he would return it.

I have no less than 10 emails and 2 phone calls with the seller trying to solve the problem. If there is nothing wrong with my original 200, I'll just have to find someone to purchase the recent one at a good price. If my original scanner IS defective, I'll send it back. If they both pick up the same, then they are definitely not as good as my 536.

Radios arrived, loaded latest firmware and database - they are 100%. Performing identically to the radio I purchased last year from HRO.

The Warranty timer is ticking.......

Not only is it ticking, but..... Don't know how enforceable it is, but as far as selling new scanners to others....

From the SDS200 owner's manual:

ELEMENTS OF WARRANTY: Uniden warrants, for one year, to the original retail owner, this Uniden Product to be free from defects in materials and craftsmanship with only the limitations or exclusions set out below.
