Good evening everyone

I decided to purchase a Uniden SDS100. Finally found one at the Bearcat Warehouse. Everybody is out of stock on them. Anyway my question is. When using Sentinel. I have a profile and everything done for my SDS200 in Sentinel. Can I just change the radio type in the software from SDS200 to SDS100 and literally upload that profile and frequencies to the SDS100 without making a new profile. I want it to be the same anyway. Then I would change the software back to the SDS200 when I update it from time to time. Hoping the bearcat warehouse ships it out tomorrow. Ordered it today.

Thank you Roger

You need to set the target model in Sentinel to the scanner you are loading. Other than that, you can use the same Favorites lists in both scanners.

The main difference between the two is the display, the layout of which fields are used, and/or color chosen. I use separate profiles for the SDS100 & SDS200 simply because I have a different mix of Favorites loading on the scanners. But if you are merely using the same, default, display options, and the same lists, then you could use the same base profile as long as you change the target model before downloading to the scanner.

In addition, to my memory, Upon creating a new profile, although the defined favorite lists are carryover, by default, their download to scanner and monitor status in the edit profile-> scan selection panel are off.

Using the detailed displays, you are limited to 24 characters for systems, departments, and channels on the SDS100. The SDS200 has a limit of 30 characters. For that reason, I limit systems, departments, and channels to 24 characters so that the same favorites list can be used for either scanner without truncating the tags on the SDS100.

Yes, you can. I do it all the time. Just be wary of what tvengineer warned though on the character lengths.

Just so I understand what you are saying. By character you mean like system names. How many characters it takes to name a system or name a department. Is this what you mean.

Thank you Roger

Also, when you select the "Target" scanner in Sentinel you will see in addition to the SDS100 and SDS200 options you can select X36HP. With two SDS units you wouldn't want to go backwards, but as an owner of the 436HP (disappointed in simulcast performance) it was nice to be able program the new SDS100 with the basic Sentinel Profile created for the 436.

That is correct. If you exceed 24 characters in a system, department, or channel, the end of the name will be cut off. The number of characters also includes spaces. You will have access to viewing the quick keys only if the display is in detail mode.

About the only other thing, and this is splitting hairs. . .

Editing the Profile, go to the Display Options Tab and check the Opening Message Screen. You may see a reference there to a different model, in which case you may elect to change is.

The scanner works fine regardless of what the opening message says and you only see the opening message at power up for a fleeting time. So changing it is just gilding a lily. But you may like your lilies gilded. :ROFLMAO:
