Sds200 Uniden DMR upgrade cost?

Quick question I just bought a used SDS 200 and I need the DMR for my area does anybody know what it cost? I was going to get it right from uniden website.

I will get the scanner tomorrow then I'll go to the website and update it . I was guessing it would be somewhere between 50 and 75$I have a Whistler TRX1. I heard nothing but good things about the SDS 200 . My area went DMR tier 3.

One suggestion that I have many several times on the forums. Unless DMR is imperative from day 1, I would wait at least a week to make sure the unit is operating to your satisfaction before doing any updates. It is a difficult (if not nearly-impossible) task to get an update transferred from one radio to another.

The city I live in the fire department and the police department just switched over to DMR. I do believe it's a trunking tier 3. My Whistler TRX1 will get most of the conversation.

If you have a radio that already receives DMR, and I know that it is practically instinctive for series scanner owners to want to update quickly, I still think it is a good idea to at least give your new radio a 3-5 day break-in period to make sure it is performing to your satisfaction. If your TRX1 is doing the job, let it do the job for another few days. Once you are sure all is well, then order your upgrade for the SDS.

My own personal experience is that the DMR is nothing special on the SDS200. There has been several mentions (which I have also observed) of volume levels jumping all over the place. Never heard DMR on a Whistler, but I can say, have never heard better DMR (outside of a professional radio) then on my AOR DV1.

In any event, the SDS200 is a really fun and flexible radio. Best of luck with the "new toy".

I think I'll take you up on that advice. I will wait a week or two to get the scanner up how I want it and see how it performs then go from there.

I paid $60 through uniden really simple to do. I am very happy with the SDS 200.

I'm running all 3 paid upgrades on two 536HPs and an SDS100 (yup, I'm poor LOL). Though DMR is the most expensive of the 3, it is the most commonly used

I bought my SDS 200 in June 2021 with upgrades and somehow didn’t pay Alabama taxes.

I guess you're lucky to live in Alabama, Michigan residents get charged the state sales tax too.

Even though the Whistler models only monitor the voice channels, I find that my Whistler scanners receive fringe distant DMR better then my SDS200. My SDS200 sits silent at times on several things I monitor on DMR while the Whistler scanners receive it just fine. Granted DMR is not that important to me and there is not to much of interest in DMR for me. But if I would of known that in advance I would have passed on the DMR upgrade for my SDS200.
