Hey guys, I unplugged my scanner to move it to the next room.
Powered down before I pulled the power.
When I plugged it back in, it stopped receiving. I mean it has been silent for a few days now.
Looks like the unit is working as it should, scanning the favorites list and so forth.

Anyone have any ideas of what could have happened, or how I can resolve the issue??

Thanks guys!

Is this trunked or conventional? Have you tried a NWS frequency?

Have you tried to receive the WX near a window? Maybe where you moved it to is a dead spot RF wise. Are you using the duck antenna? Have you tried to receive using an outside antenna?

All of the previous post have good advice.

I'd:
  1. Take the radio to a DIFFERENT SPOT. It is entirely possible that there is strong RFI in the new spot - or some kind of shielding.
  2. Try the WX at a different spot. Let is SCAN the WX channels.
  3. You said you tried a different antenna - which antenna. Carefully look at the center connector. Is the center pin intact on the antenna(s) and the center conductor is where it should be on the radio?
  4. It is highly coincidental that the radio dies moving it, but **** happens. Murphy's law does rear it's ugly head once in a while....

There have been a few posts about 200's going deaf. First is to install a new sd card as suggested above.

Another recurring theme is a bad connector connection inside the scanner. IF the unit is OUT of warranty or If your not a tech guy dont mess around inside the unit send it out for repair. If you are a tech guy open the unit and reseat all the internal connectors. There was a report that there is a connector with brown wires??? that gets loose. If this fails send it in.

The new SD Card did not fix the issue.

Turned on my 2M radio and went up to the 750 MHz area and found a terrible RF.
Moved the scanner to the patio, and it was like a light switch. So, what changed??

I recently purchased a new Dell desktop PC and dual monitors. (Which was why I moved the SDS200 in the first place)
Seems the monitors are emitting the RF interfering with the receiver of the SDS200.

Once I physically unplugged the two monitors, the RFI disappeared….

Looks like I am off to Amazon for some snap-on ferrite choke, hope that resolves the issue!

Thanks for all the help fellas.

Cheers!

Doesn’t your ac power cable have a ferrite choke?
