My 5500 video died and the cap fix listed on the AOR page didnt help so i need a service
manual, schematic or a software progrm for my PC/Monitor (if one exist) so i can use it
as a sdu.
I have read about other sdu displays that will work with the 10.7 If, has anyone had any luck with these ? I really miss the display so any information i can get would be a big help.

I will second that. I have my AOR5000a+3 connected to the SDR-14 and man, what a great instrment. The SpectraVue software is outstanding.

What else is needed along with the SDR

I have looked up the sdr14 website, it looks like a black box only. I guess the video output would go to a pc but how does get there, through sound card? Is the srd more
sensitive to weak signals? I can hear audio from the ar5000 thats to low to show on a
trace on the sdu5500.
Also the 5500 can be 10mhz wide, sense the sdr14 covers 0-30mhz does this mean the
span could be increased beyond 10mhz?

Your receiver would connect to the SDR-14 via 10.7 MHz if out. The SDR-14 connects to your PC via USB port. Weak signals, let me put this way, with the SRD-14 and the SpectraVue software, I can see the signal. For instance, when I monitor the 40-meter ham band, I can see each time the ham operator transmits, I can see the signal. Without the SRD-14, I would most likely would miss weak signals because I would be manually scanning the band.
Go and visit the website for the SDR-14 and look at the samples screen shots. Last night I scanned the 700 MHz band for signals in my area.

yes you can do up to 30mhz with your 5000 when tuned above 30mhz( when below that the sdr by itself will do 30mhz). Not something done often, usually i just watch a few mhz at a time.
