This query would best be answered by someone living in SE Michigan familiar with the Counties of Washtenaw and Monroe, but any input welcome.

I live in Adrian in Lenawee County. We have a state police post with an 800 Mhz tower... 2 miles from me. If I wanted to listen to Washtenaw and Monroe County Public Safety on the 800 Mhz system...

... can I do it from the Adrian Tower using those agencies Radio ID's? (eliminates outdoor antenna) OR...

... must I receive them from a tower in those Counties, thereby requiring an outdoor antenna from my location in Adrian?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Generally throughout Michigan a local tower will only have the neighboring counties main dispatch channel. Your MSP District main dispatch channel will also be on your local tower.

Unless the "distant" units associate with your local tower - no. You need to be able to receive the towers it is associated with - the distant one. In Ohio but MARCS works the same.

Which towers?

Thank you for the replies. I figured as much, but had to be sure.

I suggest that you let your scanner "search" your local tower over a period of time....this will allow you to learn what your own tower hears....you might be surprised....I live in the shadow of my local tower here in Genesee County....you'd be stunned at what I can hear....and I learned about it by "searching" the tower rather than any other method....
