Toggle ID Scan or ID Search
While scanning each Trunked System, press Func then E/yes.
Note:
ID Search is not available with the Database.

You can copy the whole system from the data base into a new favorites list and scan the system for unknown talk groups that way. I do this with our state wide system all the time. Also if using the trunked discovery mode you can select the data base as what to compare it to and search for new talk groups using the discovery mode should also give you the option of only recording audio from newly found talk groups I believe.

If you are using the RadioReference database, AKA National Database, you can't search and you can only scan what is preprogrammed.

But if you are talking about searching on a Favorites List that you created or imported, then all you need to do is press the function key on the side of the radio and then the E, or Enter, key while you are scanning on that Favorites List. You will see on the display that will read ID Searching instead of ID Scanning when you do that and then if you want to switch back to ID Scanning you just repeat the same steps again. Just make sure that the radio is scanning when you do the steps otherwise it won't switch between scanning and searching.

That is exactly what Trunking Discovery is designed to do.

I've merged your two threads which ask the same question. The answers already given should answer your questions.
