• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I know this topic has been brought up a few times, but I have been beating my head against the wall for months now trying to get my vxd-720's programmed. I've tried two cables, both of which do not work. OEM calls for the ct-155 as the proper cable.

The problem is, the ct-155 seems to be only half of the programming cable, as the "radio" end looks like a DIN connector (idk how many pins) and this does not in any way, shape or form connect directly to the radio itself, as this is a handheld, and there is no female DIN connector on the radio.

Grainger supply seems to have what looks to be the other half, but not sure if what they have connects to the ct-155.

I have a picture of the two USB cables I've purchased, as well as a pinout diagram that supposedly shows the proper cable pinout that matches one of my cables, but apparently the pic files are too big for this server to handle so I'll have to try and dumb down the quality from my computer and post them in a bit.

Here's the proper cable pinout and the two cables I've purchased, top one from AliBaba, bottom one from BlueMax49ers (ebay). I've even sent him one of the radios to try and help me with this issue but sadly have not heard back yet.

The problem I'm having when connecting the second cable is, I'm getting a popup on my taskbar (win7) that says "USB Device not recognized: One of the USB devices connected to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it" This happens only when the USB cable is connected both to the radio and computer. It does nothing when connected to the computer and not the radio.

Using VSCE 4.0, I even have tried 4.5 with no success. I don't think it's a problem with the software version..at least it's not a problem now. Just trying to get a successful connection between radio and computer. I have a total of 8 radios that ALL experience this issue...have my doubts that it's the radio....
