i was asked to share these on "New Roll Call", so i thought i'd post a new thread :)

KIRO is the most active media outlet that uses the radio. they use these channels to update the choppers of traffic incidents, and then the traffic chopper relays it back over the radio.
KIRO Repeater: 455.6875 (PL 141.3)
KIRO chopper 1: 161.64
KIRO chopper 2: 450.6875 (PL 141.3)

710 KIRO raw feed to chopper: 450.800

during seafair, (media) choppers talked on 818.0375 (PL 110.9). this freq is used specifically for seafair to either coordinate air traffic or to organize the KIRO seafair broadcast.

KOMO 4 chopper uses 450.4125 (PL 146.2) for updates

KING 5 uses 455.5125 (PL 131.8) to coordinate live broadcasts, in addition to working out technical problems (with the chopper and video feeds). i don't know what frequency is for the KING 5 chopper sound bites and live traffic updates.

there are more media frequencies at http://www.wiscomm.com/media/seamedia.htm, but i believe that most are out of date or are rarely used. same thing with NWFD 10th addition in the media section of king county.

Doesn't KIRO-TV have repeaters on 863.0375?

Yes, Eastsound (Mt Constitution) Granite Falls, Capitol Pk and a few others. Haven't monitored this in a while. I peaked inside a Kiro news van 20 years ago, had the old Motorola Covertacom MX series portables back then. They might be using Nextel more and more. King 5 uses 450.6125 with a repeater on Capitol Pk and I believe they have one up north as well. The 455.5125 is used quite a bit.

i do it sometimes, but honestly i don't want to spend the time looking for the right place to put it. i usually only post updates in the king county public safety category.

i won't take offense if someone else updates the web data on radio reference with these freqs.

We use 806.0375 / 863.0375 every morning to talk to Chopper 7. It's the main communication link for the Helicopter in fact. Our sat truck still has that MX converta-com with telephone-style handset ;) They use it from time to time. All of our sensitive dispatch is private (as in pagers/other 2-way radio / cell-phone)

Check the 800mhz stuff every weekday morning- listen for "chopper 7" or dispatch setting up the link.

Oh, it doesn't- the frequency is most active in the morning. General traffic chatter etc. they move over to the "private" methods in the afternoon when the competition tends to be listening...

In the 800MHz band, the offset is 45MHz, thus the input for 863.0375 is 818.0375.
