Was running Unitrunker tonight on my BCD396XT here in Seymour, IN and the program showed TalkGroup 19504 talking to 41995 on 856.3375 as a "ENC" type communication. Anyone confirm this freq as active and active for enc communications? These 2 talkgroup ID's are not listed on Indiana SAFET system. Who might they be?
If I "park" my scanner on that frequency, I get/hear nothing, not even the "enc" notification.

What radio ID's were in use? What other TG's have you seen those on?

Unless someone has inside info and is willing to risk their identity (and jobs?) by giving it out, you'll only figure it out using other methods.

PS Just noticed you said one talkgroup was talking to another -- that doesn't make sense. Was it a patch? Or were you listening to a private call, and those are Radio IDs?

...and to make it more confusing that is not listed as a valid SafeT frequency.

And 41995 cannot be a valid talkgroup on SafeT.

The RR lookup says that frequency is either AEP or Cinergy or Duke Energy.

Also noted 64768 and 28537 New to Unitrunker. May have written that wrong as one talking to the other but they were on the same horizontal line so I figured there was one TG ID communicating with another TG ID. I guess that could've been Duke Energy or AEP but like I said "I" don't know who/what they are only that I saw those ID's come up on that frequency here in Seymour. Also don't know if it's SAFET or not....maybe a Unitrunker expert would know?

The software gets this information from the control channel, not the voice channel carrying the encrypted communications. Parking the scanner on this voice channel in conventional mode won't do anything for you. An encrypted talkgroup is not fixed to any one voice channel at any site. It is dynamically assigned to available voice channels by the system just as a non-encrypted talkgroup is.

The 856.3375 could very well be Safe T they have an arrangement with the FCC to put up filler sites and operate them before they have the actual licenses while waiting on apps and reband licenses just this week they got 854.3375 on the FCC site just because it is not on RR DB does not mean it is not valid

Side note Duke has some new P25 systems as well as several Water CO The Indianapolis Water is now testing some P25 digital stuff now

Understood - but given the invalid talkgroup numbers, and some confusion with Unitrunker, and the fact that all of these strange talkgroups are showing up on a currently non-listed SafeT frequency, makes it seem likely to not be a SafeT frequency.

Apparently it is a Unitrunker thing. I would've thought that parked on a control channel, that I'd only get frequencies listed by that control channel. But what's happening is other 800 MHZ frequencies are popping and showing the "enc" and the other weird (apparently) TG ID's. It actually says source and target I believe. Like I said, hopefully someone with Unitrunker experience can help me figure out where these other frequencies are coming from when I'm parked on the CC.

hey Del...Unitrunker is more hands on than Trunk88....you might want to download Trunk88 and try it out...it will automatically find the voice channels while parked on the CC....your 396 will work with trunk88...and follow all the traffic as well

I'm trying to get trunk88 figured out. Downloaded and got it running but it doesn't seem to be reading anything. Ran Unitrunker first to make sure everything was set up correctly. Any hints?..........................Update....got it figured out. Looks like a night or two and some more learning to see how the info compares. I did run it for about a half hour and it says "11 frequencies"....which puzzles me a little...Seymour only has 5 frequencies listed on RR.....Unitrunker seems like also showed additional frequencies like I've mentioned above:

I've had issues with Unitrunker also. Mine seems to find the freqs ok, but will not put the alpha tags to the TG ID's from RR.

Seymour Ops... FYI

I was in Lake county listening to their site on Wednesday (03-03-10) morning about 7:15 am and heard a statewide announcement about Seymour Ops. The dispatcher said that Seymour Ops is now no longer going to be used as it has switched over to another talkgrouup. That isn't exactly the wording however that was the traffic in a nut shell. I didn't catch what TG they were going to be using or just who they were being migrated with. Just thought I would throw that out here in this thread since it was started by a listener in Seymour, In. This traffic was transmitted across the StateWide Mutual Aid Calling TG I believe.

I heard district 42 in Seymour yesterday (Thursday 3/4) using OPS 2. One patrolman actually said "go to 2" and then they came up on OPS 2 talkgroup.....I was sitting in KFC parking lot in Seymour at 7:15 pm when I heard that. That's my most recent hit on a State Police Ops channel. fyi

Districts 52 and 53 use the ops channels quite frequently.

Dist. 52 ops 3 is used for transporting large cargoes on the interstate. It is patched with an INDOT channel, I have been told.

Most often, I hear Dist 52 on OPS 1 helping with warrant sweeps and also for anything large that they don't want to tie up DISP with.

Dist 52 ISP Indianapolis Post does use Ops 3 for "Superloads" and I have heard ISP Indianapolis cars calling 52-TMC letting them know of where the escort is and which way they are taking thru The Indianapolis Dist.

Not sure if this is related, but occasionally on my BC796 I will get a TGID of 4115 for Dist 52(Ithink) Disp at the same time I am getting 4112 on my 996. What could be causing this?

+3 means the talkgroup is being patched.
