DIA: Flight disturbance / Bombing?
4-7-10 @ 2000
Disturbance on a plane now at Gate B39.
From TSA:
Plane landed safely at 6:50 mst investigating if there was a disturbance.
Tipsters say a passenger tried to start a fire on the plane.
Scanners: Some passengers being transported to ARF-1 and others are boarding buses.
From DIA Media line. Disturbance on flight to Denver flight from Reagan Aiport in DC.
NOT affecting any operations at DIA

According to ABC News, the man was identified by authorities as Mohammed al Modadi, a diplomat in the Qatar embassy in Washington. The FBI said the man had full diplomat immunity as the 3rd secretary and vice-consul.
ABC News reported that no explosives have been found on the airplane.A law enforcement official told the Associated Press, the incident appears to have been a misunderstanding after the man was confronted trying to sneak a smoke in the bathroom.

Since it goes both ways, yes, we do love diplo immunity.
Also: no one mentioned it here, but smoking on an airplane is not a "felony." It's a Federal Regulation violation, subject to a civil penalty ("Monetary forfeiture"), but not arrest. The party is detained long enough to find out who they are and if they have any warrants, but that's it.
