Received a BCD325P2 for Christmas. I have not owned a scanner since the crystal days. I have been reading some of the threads concerning this radio and Simulcast. I also just saw a post that Sedgwick County is getting ready to encrypt all their transmissions. My question is -- should I return this radio?

It depends on what you want to listen to & whether the information your read about encryption is accurate. I would verify the information about encryption. In essence, I would keep my receipt if I were you.

Hopefully, this is only a rumor. However, this encryption issue is starting to grow across the U.S.

Encryption is coming for Sedgwick County. Harvey Co. just flipped the switch. However i don't think the entire SG County system will be encrypted. I suspect most LEO talkgroups will be. I know million dollar plus grant was awarded to SG county recently. So I guess we shall see...

I had not heard this news, but it makes me wonder if I should upgrade my scanner to enjoy it while it lasts or get over it and just keep the cash. Something I’m definitely going to keep a close eye on. Thanks for the heads up!
