I heard two separate task forces responding south on I-65 Saturday using 155.475. They were running code 3 (or whatever the correct code is here, with lights and siren) using the shoulders and then having a couple of lead units move traffic over when they came to things like bridges. By the chatter, one was the marine police and the other was state troopers. Not sure why thay had to travel code 3 all the way down and the methods actually sounded quite dangerous to me.
Alos saw a convoy of at least 50 vehicles leaving the Prattville National Guard Armory Sunday morning, including military police humvee's and large engineering support trucks towing genrators and water buffalos. Looks like the Feds finally got ahead of the power curve on this one.
We have one shelter in Montgomery and it is mostly empty. I've seen lots of Louisiana and Mississippi cars in town but it seems like most of them found hotel rooms or other lodging. Gustav has turned out to be little more than a garden variety hurricane for NOLA and the Mississippi coast, thankfully, so I hope most of the folks get to go back to undamaged homes.
