It is great to hear that another county is being added to the SEGARRN system. I wonder how Glynn county is coming along on their development and build out of the system. According to the FCC ULS, Glynn County is pending termination of its 700MHz license due to failing the buildout requirements. Would you happen to have any information as to what their status is on building out the system?
The FCC ULS listing is here:
ULS License - Trunked Public Safety 700 MHz License - WQNK409 - GLYNN-BRUNSWICK 911 CENTER
I am not sure of that 2006, the information I gathered was printed on the front page of our local newspaper
here in Camden last friday. As for Glynn County, I could not begin to speculate..from what I could tell when I monitor
the system when I am in Brunswick the only users I hear on it is the Port Authority Police on TG 835 and I believe that
I heard one instance of public works traffic on the system..but other than that, I have not heard any traffic from any Glynn Co. Law Enforcement or Fire/Rescue; so I could believe they are about to lose their frequencies. I think they like their current analog 800MHz smartnet system too much lol. And I only can
remember seeing only one Glynn County Police cruiser with the black 700/800 MHz stub antenna on the car so they definately appear to be in no hurry.
But perhaps this is why Camden went with the single-site route, because it would be saving money for us but at the same time helping out two other counties get started on their infrastructure. According to the article, if they had went with the two-site option the entire $1.2 million would be spent only in Camden County for infrastructure and an additional annual cost $94,000 for rental of a T1 line. The only interesting part was they left out was how they proposed to purchase individual portable and mobile radios for County Departments and the three municipalities that lie within our county...which is funny because, your going to build a system and yet have no idea how to pay for the equipment to utilize the said system...and we just narrowbanded all of our current VHF equipment at the end of last year, and now they are proposing to migrate toward the SEGARRN 700/800 system.
