• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Is there a way to program ASTRO Talkgroup Lists so that you can enter the TG ID on the radio keypad to select it? Right now, even though there are no "numbers" in the list view, I can search using the numerical sequence of the TG's placement in the list.

No, you need to enter in the groups you want into a talkgroup list.
I have them in my Talkgroups list, but they don't have numbers assigned to then in the list view. I want to be able to select by TG ID, if possible. E.g., 1234 on the keypay for Talkgroup 1234.

I was reading through the user guide and I don't think it's possible but I wanted to ask here with more experienced users.

DO NOT ASK ME FOR HELP PROGRAMMING YOUR RADIO. NO.
Consider the operational needs that these systems are built around. No system administrator wants any typical user to be able to just select any talkgroup at will. Your agency or department restricts you to the list of talkgroups you have business on, and you don't get to go talk to the dog catcher on his talkgroup when things are slow in your department.

Imagine the chaos that would occur if every user could pick any system talkgroup at will. Because some people would end up on talkgroups they have no business being on.

OP is referring to the conventional ASTRO talkgroup list, which does not require a trunked system key to modify in CPS (because it's not trunking, duh). Also, he doesn't want to directly enter a TGID into the radio via the keypad, he wanted to be able to select a pre-defined talkgroup by entering its TGID as a "quick key".

Anyway, @mikewazowski already answered the question. No, it's not possible. You select the predefined talkgroup by pressing the TGRP button/menu softkey, then select from a list.
