Selling PRO-96,MAYBE?

Well I was thinking about selling my recently purchased Pro-96(radio shack)I cant tell if they are gonna be able to pick up MPD or not,and I need the money.I'm sure most stuff we want to here will be encrypted,or maybe not.I'm not sure.Well if any questions post back here.I have the Radio Shack recharge battery unit and eight recharge batteries.Also one year in store warranty.Still have the reciept.It was purchased on 1/23/05. Total on the receipt was 623.00.Probably let it all go for 500.00 or a little less.Also got a radio shack 800mhz scanner antenna,for what its worth. Scanner is in good condition.I haven't priced the price on used ones.so it may be a little high.Willing to come down on price.

Are you talking about Metro PD in Nashville or Memphis PD. If it's Nashville you can hear most everything just fine with very little encryption. If it's Memphis on the other hand as of now no you could not. I hear that might be changing though. Good luck.

Yes Memphis is working hard on transitioning this summer... I talked to an PD tech this morning and he siad that the city will flash over all in one big step with the county in stages.... SO, then slow migration of all VFD's... possibly even Bartlett, and the others online by the time its all siad and done.

Just the county sheriff is joining the Memphis system. The suburb cities, including Bartlett, will remain on their own systems.

Yes. They are going P25. They have purchased a batch of encryption boards, but not they are not enough for all their radios. Expect TACT officers, detectives, vice, narcs, etc. to be encrypted and regular patrol and fire channels to be in the clear.

MLGW had the same VSELP setup as Memphis did and according to posts elsewhere have recently gone to P25 that has been successfully scanned. The MLGW system was considered a 2nd backup system for Memphis.

Memphis has 5 towers that simulcast and they are adding 3 more to give the sheriff dept. coverage and to cover the recent annexations to the Fayette county line. Should be no problems picking them up anywhere in the county.
