That's so terribly unfortunate :(

Short of it, INDOT employee stops to assist motorist who 10-50'd. Southbound semi on I-65 literally runs the INDOT truck over, causing the crash to catch flame and killing the INDOT employee. Sad, if not disgusting. Looking forward to the INDOT employee receiving the recognition he/she earned and deserves.

Yep, very sad. My feed covered all of that yesterday (12/1/2011). So there should it should've all been recorded to the archives if anyone wants to listen to it.

It IS possible the semi driver tried to brake accordingly, but on an icy road, that's nearly impossible I think.

That's a great point. I might request the details of the subsequent investigation when and if they become available. Given that one collision had just occurred there prior to the fatality, it's reasonable to suspect that the second Freightliner experienced similar conditions.

I would definitely read it if ya find it. This really got my curiousity piqued. I was born and raised here in FL and have never drove on an icy road. I am a safe and alert driver and got decent (imho) driving reflexes, and even I worry about the day I ever have to drive in snow and icy conditions :-/
