I have a Radio Shack Pro 97 scanner that I bought a few years ago and have been using it to listen to Coweta County, GA public safety departments. The county recently converted to a new 700 Mhz system and now I am unable to listen. Is the Pro 97 capable of scanning 700 MHz? If not, is there any way to convert it? Thanks!

PRO-97 has two strikes against it for that use:

1) No, it will not cover the 700 MHz frequencies.
2) The system you are referring to is digital (Western Area Regional Radio System Authority (WARRS) Trunking System, Carollton, Georgia - Scanner Frequencies). PRO-97 cannot do digital systems.

There is a roughly $500 conversion available. First, put the PRO-97 in a sealed box in your garage. Then purchase one of the models listed here:Category: Digital Scanners - The RadioReference Wiki (except BC250D, BC785D, and PRO-96/PRO-2096).
