Seminole County to flip P25 switch Wednesday 6/25

Seminole County Fl will migrate to the new digital P25 radio system starting Wednesday June 25. All fire/rescue units, hospitals and sheriff will start using the system sometime around 8am (time is still not set in stone).

Since not all agencies have purchased digital capable radios, the analog site will be up but no simulcast is anticipated. Currently SO tg's are in the clear, but that is subject to change.

The transition should be completed in November.

Seminole County P25

Seminole County has started the transition process from analog to digital this morning. Public safety and Sheriff will start using the system in the next 24-48 hours.

I noticed that the analog system is operating now in a Smart X configuration as well.

I am listening to Seminole County Fire Rescue conduct 'Roll Call' on D49 as they have just officially moved over to their new P25 system at this moment in time.

How are things sounding? Are they done completely with the changes?

Things are sounding much better than other P25 systems in the Central Florida area. So far fire. sheriff, Lake Mary, Sanford, Longwood and Oviedo PD have switched over. Winter Springs, Casselberry and Altamonte Springs have not.

And this must be why my old dual trunking scanner is silent? Are they encrypted and what type of equipment would I need to upgrade to? What is your preference? Thanks much.

You can use any P25 trunking scanner on the market to monitor the Seminole County system as it is only P25 Phase 1 Trunking. There currently is no encryption on the system.

Fire, Animal Control, SSC, and SCPS transportation won't, LEA possibly, that's all I know.

Hi I see you have commented on the Seminole County P25 TRS system. Can you confirm the dispatch TG's are NOT encrypted? Especially Oviedo?

What scanner are you using? How is it working with the simulcast?

I have PM'd some others on the thread hoping to hear their experiences, but have not heard. Please reply .
