• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

This week the senate started working on the communications funding bill. They propose to switch the one billion dollars that was scheduled for interoperability radio systems to improve 911 systems.

If this goes through everyone can forget federal money for new radio systems. right now the 911 lobby and police communications lobby are fighting each other. Money was promised to help 911 get updated to handle location information and there was the billion for radio systems. Now there is talk of eliminating one group of the funds.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Not exactly, New York is whining about thier funding being curtailed while that for New Jersey is being raised. So what else is new? They're always grumbling about something, wait 'till we issue them passports and charge tolls on the bridges and tunnels like they do entering Jersey. When they get a hassle every time they want to visit the Statue of Liberty they'll really have something to gripe about, Liberty State Park is in NEW JERSEY! Then we cut the 800MHz link into the city, that'll shut them up.

So, Warren...things like the Brooklyn Bridge, Empire State Building, the NYC Subway...I could go on...don't deserve protection? They deserve it just as much as the crossings between NY/NJ. Remember, if NYC goes down, the economy will go down. Or did you forget what happened after 9/11?
