Are you talking about the Home Patrol "Extreme Upgrade" from Uniden ? Your posts are very vague and difficult to understand.

The Extreme Upgrade does not require sending the scanner to Uniden. You purchase it online via the MyUniden website (scanner must be registered as well), then enter the key code provided.

The Extreme Upgrade adds some features not present on the scanner originally, but it does not affect it's current operation. The Extreme, by itself, will not solve your reception problems, if you are still having them.
