Just got a new Win10 laptop and downloaded the latest version of Sentinel, but it won't let me install because it's not a "Verified" Windows App. How to I get around this?

Thanks! And my apologies if this has already been discussed, I did a search and didn't find it.

Is your new laptop using Windows 10 S? That prevents installation of anything not chosen from the app store.

See this Microsoft page on how to convert Windows 10 S to simply Windows 10, which should allow you to install sentinel.

If you make that change (from 10 S to simply 10), and get an error message about needing .Net 2.0, see this Wiki page for how to correct that.

Yes, this laptop is running Windows 10 S, or was until I turned it off with the help from the reply above.. Also, I did get the warning about needing .Net 2.0 and appreciate the link to correct that.

Now on to installing a version of .Net that will work with Sentinel....

Yeah, that S crap messed with me on this cheap little Acer I got for home a while back. I also need to go to a 2.4 connection to update stuff.

Success!! Sentinel has been installed!! Thank you all for all your help, it is sincerely appreciated.

I, too, got this Lenovo laptop to do things, like Uniden's Sentinel on that I couldn't do very well on my Mac. Tried Parallels for years and got aggravated and frustrated trying to get it to recognize a USB connection every time i needed to update or change Sentinel > SDS100 & 200, let alone 436 qne 536HP. Plus a couple of other reasons.

Downloaded Sentinel on a Surface Pro laptop (Win 11) First issue was .net 2.0, installed .net 3.5 which includes .Net 2.0 Next issue was full database would error out, this for some reason wanted One Drive Access. One Drive was discontinued a while back. Anyway after somehow logging into ONE Drive the Full Database loaded and accepted the update to the 12/24 version. I can see where new people would have issues with installing Sentinel..

.NET and OneDrive are not discontinued. .NET 2 has been superseded but some programs must use the old version.

Odd as the microsoft site I used to D/L .Net 3.5 said it was discontinued in 2022. And I have no idea why the default path for Sentinel when D/Led is a path using ONE Drive which can't be changed until the link is working. Once, I got the database to work I changed the path to my local drive.

Looking back at the site perhaps the 2022 date was in reference to IE being discontinued and recommending EDGE

.NET 2 is included in Win 11, it's a feature that you turn on.
