Sentinel-Channels lose Avoids on Append

I have a bit of an issue that maybe someone can explain ..

I am having a Sentinel issue.

I have some favorites lists on my HP1 (8 in total) and I want to append 4 systems from several of them into 1 favorite list.

That part is fine ... they appended as expected. They are now all part of the new favorite list.

But .. I lost all the avoids that were existing already (for the channels) in the favorites lists when doing the appends.

It is a major pain in the **** to have to go thru and set all those avoids again.

The avoids are fine in the original favorite lists .. just not the new one.

How can I fix this issue ?

Rather than using the APPEND, just copy-n-paste the lines and the Avoids will copy fine.

Or, I think you could export to an HPE file then import to the new FL, and that may work, too.

I used to dislike the clearing of the Avoids but then I appreciated that option when I wanted to create new Avoid lists.

Thanks ...

The export and re import from the HPE file worked.

The append would be so much easier though.

Maybe Paul will come along and let us know if that is by design or not.

I mentioned it previously, so I would not expect a "fix" (not that it's 'broke' - it just doesn't work the way we think it should).

Really .. when you look at it, the data is not the same after the append. So it is truly an issue.

The only good thing .. is that there is a fix. But .. it is a bit of a pain having to do it that way as there are several more steps involved.

I look at the glass half full. Whether I want to preserve the AVOIDs or ignore them, I have a means in the software to do either. If both methods preserved the AVOIDs, I would have to do exactly what you are talking about and un-Avoid all the TGs I want to hear. (as opposed to having to set them)

I have noticed that Uniden's definition of "permanent" is not the same as the one in the dictionary. Eventually, we just have to learn to live with it.

You mean in the fact that if you re-write over a file, it can change? Yes. But, it will stick until you change it is the basic theory.

IMO, selecting "Make Permanent" should write the change to the file.
