Is there a way to be able to alter the default 2 second delay on everything that is imported into Sentinel from the RR DB? I have to go and manually change mostly everything after importing and it is a PITA.
Also, when I have ID search set to on, when the radio catches a new talkgroup ID, the delay is also 2 sec. and I cant find where I can increase this.
Just got my SDS100 on Thurs. and setting it up.
Thanks for the help!
Bob

Sentinel also allows normal Windows copy and paste.
For the delay setting on systems in your favorites, select the top delay box and change it's value to what you want and then Copy that.
Then hold the mouse button down while you drag the point down the Delay column and get them all highlighted and then select paste and they will all change.
The copy selection will remain if you have more departments or systems that you need to change as well.

It helps tons and does not take long to do in Sentinel once you get the hang of its copy & paste options.

Go into menu then select Srch/Close Call Opt. Select it and set delay time.

Getting accustomed to the scanner and it’s manual will help going forward with questions. If you are impaired, not to worry, there is help here... without the need to declare it. ...just want to assure you if it’s that frustrating feeling that plagues is all at one time or another, becoming more familiar with the manual and radio will help.

Thank you for that, yes I did figure that out also eventually. I thought it would be a similar keystroke as the Freescan program using the control key after highlighting the row but that didn't work. But the copy-paste method does work. But I was hoping there was a way for all of the imports to already have like 5 sec. delay to start, so I wouldn't have to go in and change hundreds of depts. ect...

I personally would advise getting ProScan, for this, and many, many other reasons.

I have all of the counties in two states programmed, each a separate favorite list. If/when I decide to change some parameter everywhere, ProScan has a search and replace utility, which makes this ALOT easier.

Yes I had a feeling this would be the final outcome. I haven't downloaded the trial yet but I think I am going to have to do it.

Bumping this to see if anyone has an answer to this
Still haven't figured out a fix. When I have ID search set to on, and the radio catches a new talkgroup ID, the delay is only 2 sec. and I cant find where I can increase this. It is for the "unknown" talkgroups that come up. Sometimes the 2 sec. Delay isn't long enough for me to jump and pause it so I can save the new talkgroup

The default delay time is two seconds, so that's where it's moving on to the next transmission before you can react.

No idea if this will make any difference, as I have not tried it. But see if changing the default delay on the Search/Close Call tab of your Profile in Sentinel helps any at all. Good luck.

Yes thank you for that suggestion. I did set that to 10 seconds way back in the beginning, thinking the same as you, trying it just as a possible fix. But nope, didn't change it.

Shoot. Too bad that did not work. I don't see anywhere else you could change a defauilt delay setting. At least, it was worth a try.

The default 2 seconds delay can't be changed. That's a characteristic of the scanner. All software is modeled for the supported scanners. If Uniden updated the firmware to support changing the default delay then a Sentinel (and ProScan) update will be needed to follow suit.

That being said, ProScan has a "Find & Replace" function to change the delay globally and a right click "Fill Down" function

Ok thank you for that info. So at least I can stop looking for a fix now and will have to deal with it. It's not a big deal breaker, so to speak, just an inconvenience when trying to find new talkgroups without the radio being hooked up to the computer to log the Talkgroup. And yes I love the find and replace feature in your (Proscan) software. Saves lots of time for sure.

Just use the record feature and you can replay and pause when you need to capture the new group. I use it this way to record user ID's so I can add a description rather than a meaningless number. (1151061= Henrietta Engine-652)

ARC536 Pro has a utility that will allow you to manage the full database, or at least some features, including delay. Unfortunately you have to pick the states to use.

Are you sure about that? The full database doesn't contain any delay info in the channels just the modulation and service types. Picking a state sounds like appending to a Favorites list.

Reasonably sure. "Manage Full Database" under the BDx36HP scanner heading, if you happen to have that software "just to see what the other guys are doing".

Good info. Thanks. I see now. The parameters(or fields) are initially blank when updating from the HPDB so the scanner will use the defaults. All the parameters including the Delay can be changed. We can take it another step by changing the trunking systems ID Scan to ID Search. One problem is if the HPDB was updated then the changes will revert back to all blanks(or defaults).
