I'm trying to install Sentinel on a Win 11 home machine. It asks for dot net 2 which has long been history. I tried with both dot net 8 and 9 but the install apparently doesn't recognize. How do I get around this?

Why is the app so outdated?

Sentinel will work with Windows versions issued years ago, If updated to the 'latest & greatest;, access for older machines would be lost. You don't have to "buy" anything to make it work. Just have Windows install the older Dot Net version, per the instructions on the Wiki page Mike linked & you'll be good to go.

First off, .Net Framework isn't backwards compatible, and you can have multiple versions installed.

Secondly, Windows 11 comes with .Net Framework 2.0 compatibility, but you have to activate it. First, just enter "Windows Features" in the search window, and select ".Net Framework 3.0/3.5 (includes 2.0)" from the pop-up menu. (If you choose to use Proscan later, you'll need .Net Framework 4.8, which is also activated the same way, as it's just below .Net Framework 3.0/3.5/2.0 in the same menu.)

(This has to be the most asked FAQ for Sentinel users!)
