When you export a favorites list to an .hpe file to share with someone, what happens to the favorites list quick key numbers? I sent a few favorites lists to a friend, and said that there were no favorites list quick key numbers, they showed up in the software as "none".

What about a profile? Is it possible to share a profile with someone? The favorites list doesn't contain the profile information, and there doesn't seem to be any way to export a profile. .hpe favorites lists, yes; profile, no.

And, if you import a favorites list, it asks you what favorites list you want to put it in, or create another one. Put a favorites list inside another favorites list? I thought I had this all figured out.

I just exported one of my Favorites lists, then imported into a new list, and the quick keys are there.

Did you export from an HP-1 or HP-2, or is the person you shared the file with using an HP-1 or HP-2? If he imported into Sentinel for the HP series, the quick keys would not be recognized.

Exported from my SDS100 to use in his SDS100. I'm thinking that since he created his own profile, and my profile is likely different, that may present an issue, as his profile settings may be different. Which is why I asked if it was possible to share not only a favorites list, but also a profile.

I'm not sure that would work, since the list of Favorites in your profiles won't match what is in his.

But your export should have included the quick keys, which is why I'm wondering if he imported it into the Sentinel version for the HP series, not the x36HP nor SDS series. Did he possibly install the wrong one?

I've exported hpe's from my desktop, then imported them into Sentinel on my laptop, and the quick keys always come along for the ride.

Profiles have nothing to do with a favorites list, I just transferred a favorites list from one PC to another PC with the profiles set up differently and the favorites transferred everything identically including Q-keys. With Sentinel x36HP you can export/import favorites and display options and that's all.
As stated above if the HP version of Sentinel was used it does not have Q-keys to import/export.

No. Part of the profile data is which favorite lists get downloaded to the scanner, and monitored. Favorite lists are referenced internally by filename to keep the program from crashing if you give more than one favorite list the same name. Filenames are numeric, assigned by Sentinel in the order they were created. For a profile to be exportable, both parties woud have to have the exact same set of favorite lists, and they would need to be named identically. Or else one or more favorite lists on the receiving end would have the wrong content, or would be missing its content entirely.

I asked because I sent my favorites lists to him. They work for me. Yet he is getting "Nothing to Scan" errors whereas I don't. Part of the problem is that in his profile he had some favorites lists set "No" to monitor and "No" to download. Plus he didn't have all the service types checked. Which is why I thought if I could send him my profile, he wouldn't have these issues. Because, even though the favorites lists are mine, I don't know how he set up his profile.

They aren't likely to have the same filenames, even if the content is the same, so no.

And unless you live next door to each other, your friend needs to use his own location settings. His scanner needs to know where he is, not where you are.

Jon is correct - the *FL Quick Key* allocations are in the profile. System/Site/Dept Quick Keys are in the FL and should appear in the HPE transfer. I doubt there is any way to change that since FL Quick Key allocations are exclusive, and duplicates can cause issues.
