Since my 436 is working just fine in “Serial Mode” I see no reason at this point in time to update the serial driver, which Win7 64 bit suggests I do, if I use “Device Manager”.
Under “Device Manager” I found “Other Devices” & under it I found “BCD436HP Serial Port”
If I right click on BCD436HP Serial Port” and go to “Properties” I get the following:
“The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.”
I do not let Window update drivers for my hardware (unless it is Microsoft Hardware)! If you do, you can expect a disaster.
I am going to assume that any third party software that uses the “Serial Port” on my 436 will provide the appropriate Serial Driver. At present, my 436 works fine and I am not going to do anything.
Does this sound reasonable?
