How do you set 1 TGID of an EDACS system as priority when scanning the TRS? I tried to edit the channel and turned priority ON. Then on the main menu I set the radio to either PRIORTY DO NOT DISTURB or PRIORITY SCAN. Each time I did it, the scanner just ssid PRIORITY SCAN NO CHANNEL. I made sure the channel I wanted as priority was active and the system was coming in. What am I doing wrong?

Ok...so from what I gather then I'm supposed to set the individual channel as a priority but leave the main menu priority scan/priority DND off?

I don't think this feature will do what you want, until they make a change in the radios firmware.
I don't use the Priority setting on trunks.

That's just my take on the subject.

If you wanted you could have a separate Favorite List and only include the TG's you want priority on.
and either avoid the rest or delete them and turn off The ID search.

Anybody else have thoughts?

Priority ID Scan This function is similar to conventional priority although there is no interruption during the transmission. Priority ID Scan is always on for a system if enabled in the system setting. Priority is checked in between transmissions, when the scanner is receiving the control channel, and during the channel delay period. The scanner can only look for priority IDs in the trunked system it is currently scanning.

In the 436 go to the menu manage favorites select the system you want the priority channel on then review edit system highlight the system then edit dept then select the dept then edit channel select the channel you want the priority on then select set priority to on.

Trunking id priority will not interrupt any given channel but rather will go to the priority channel when nothing else is busy....it only works within the same trunking system.

You also must set priority id scan to on in the edit system options.

Also you do not set priority for trunked systems in the scanners settings it is only turned on specifically within the channel and system you want it applied. Do not use priority do not disturb or priority scan.

Hope this helps.

In addition to the above comments "PRIORITY SCAN NO CHANNEL" means you've told the scanner to scan for a priority conventional channel, but have not marked a conventional channel to be a priority channel.

Priority scanning for conventional channels is a different creature than priority scanning for trunked channels. Getting a grasp on the nuances of each takes a little practice.

ofd8001;2494205"PRIORITY SCAN NO CHANNEL" means you've told the scanner to scan for a priority [I said:
conventional [/I]channel, but have not marked a conventional channel to be a priority channel..

Does it really have to tell us? It's kinda annoying. There should be an option to get rid of the message, aside from the obvious solutions.
Turn the knob, Add a Channel or turn Priority Off.
