How to set range in miles on the BCD436HP? The manual only covers the range settings on the BCD536HP.

Thanks,

Press the menu button... Select "Set Your Location" Push down scroll knob to select it... Select "Set Range" and select it... Change the value by pressing number keys. Use scroll knob on top if you make a mistake to move curser. Then you can hit the "Avoid" button to fully back out of the menu.

It's important also to remember that when using the RANGE feature on those scanners that support the function, you must also program Sentinel databases (either the main database or your favorites lists) to use location control. Some folks, especially newbies, are under the misconception that the Range function somehow decreases or increases the sensitivity of the scanner to accommodate the range function. All the range function does is tell the radio to use a station's GPS coordinates to determine whether or not the station is within the range desired. And of course, this feature approximates your distance based on your GPS coordinates or your zip code, and the GPS coordinates of the station(s) you are monitoring. Sorry if I went a little off topic here, but I thought I might throw that information in, since it is part of the mix that makes the Uniden units which have this function especially powerful when you are traveling with your scanner and have a GPS unit attached.

Definitely on topic and important to understand for anyone setting range or using location control on a Uniden scanner.
