In my area, I have Ingham Co. EDACS, and Clinton Co. EDACS systems I monitor. with my Pro 95, a Pro 97, and Pro 2055, the programming is all similar; which is great. But i find it confusing to program different talk groups for the different systems because:

#1. the talkgroup banks are all together.

#2. the talkgroup ID's are all similar. so the displays may be confused.

any help is greatly appreciated.

I would use the WINXX Software for your scanners. The cable info is also included in this site. The cable will work with the 95, 97, and 2055. This is the best way to keep your programming straight. The software for your 95 is free and you get a 30 day trial for the software for the 97/2055

I am visiting here in Lansing and was here during the conversions. I carry a scanner and get to travel a lot and picked up a few ideas:

On a scanner with "banks" (like RS) you can program one bank with all of the frequencies; and only a subset of the total TGID's and run in closed mode; and repeat for second and third banks. You can title each bank.

I also add (the agency) text to each EDACS frequency as that will display when a TGID is scanned. You have 12 characters you can use.

For example, the frequency tag could display "E Lansing PD" and then the TGID could read "EMM TAC1" and the same frequency tag for a "Fire" bank would display "Lansing Fire."

When I bring a 95 up here I'll have a bank for Lansing Police, a bank for Lansing Fire, a bank for County, a bank for the college, etc. -- all have the same EDACS frequencies, but each bank is programmed with just a number of talkgroups and set to closed mode.

Incidentally, I saw where Clinton County is has a TGID onto the new IC EDACS TRS.

Clinton Co is not used, I don't know if that's going to be used in the future for county comms or if it's going to rebroadcast all sheriff transmissions (that's what the talkgroup description sounds like but I'd doubt it.)
