Thanks Gary! So you are (I think) the 2nd person who is really liking the Arc536 Software. I have no problem buying that.. When the scanner first came out the software wasn't ready yet.. How could you tell that they are the P25 in the DB? I made an FL for each of the SPFLD channels and am scanning now - it's really muffled sounding (like when the MSP are on the P25 channel. I think someone said once to change from NCFM to NCF. - not sure why or what it means, but I'll try it. Thanks a ton for your help! Maggie

Ooop - I meant something about NFM to NF - maybe? If only I knew what I was talking about - sorry.. I just know what I want to listen to.. I guess I'm not so good at change.

Probably mean FM to NFM.
if there is a PL or DPL listed, it is analog, P25 digital uses NAC

You could place all the Springfield channels in one favorite list, it might be easier to manage them.

They should go in one system or even one department as well. Unless she wants Springfield PD to be a separate FL, which might be possible.

In any case, there is no need to set up a separate FL for each frequency as you point out.

Lots of options with the 536/436.

I think I meant NFM to FM - since the MSP on P25 is NFM and sounds terrible, but I've never touched it - and when I look at Spfld 901, it's set to NFM (and sounds like mush) - so I went in (on the scanner) and changed it - but haven't tested yet.. Couldn't figure out how to get that deep in on the Sentinel.. BUT - I do want them as separate lists, because I always want to hear the 903, but rarely the 901.. So - In Sentinel, I opened up the RRDB, Full - just downloaded to my PC, went to the 901, created it to an FL called 901.. Nice! Did the EXACT same thing with the 903, 904, etc, yet, only the 901 is working. If I turn that one off (and only the 90x lists are set to monitor) - I get "nothing to scan" - so something's wrong on, for example, the 903 - but what could it be? I made it the exact same way - in the same minute! And downloaded them all to the scanner. I went in and clicked "stop avoiding" - just in case - but that didn't change anything. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks to Bob, I have all of these scanning now.. One was set to Law Dispatch and the others to Law Talk. Not sure where to turn those on or off, so I just changed them all to Law Dispatch - although I'd prefer to turn on all service types - but I don't know how. Audio is still really muffled compared to older scanner, analog talk. I change the NFM to FM - since I feel like someone said to do that, but I don't feel that it's really any better. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks again, and special thanks to Bob for getting me going with the now P25 Freq's.

To select all service types press menu and scroll down to select service types and press E. Then turn on or off the ones you want by pressing E.

I tried this - got to the list of all of them, but no matter what I did - the scanner just beeped at me.. I pressed the E, pressed the top knob - but nothing. I had it plugged in, charging - I took the plug out - didn't matter.. It just beeped at me no matter what I did. Thanks folks.. Really appreciate all of your help.

To the best of my knowledge, you can only turn service type on or off for the types that are associated with frequencies or talk groups in your Favorites List. If you are using location or GPS scanning, they you can use service type to chose what you want to listen to.

I find service types more confusing than anything else for the way I program my scanners, which is by programming the systems I want into my Favorites Lists. Unfortunately, you can't bypass service lists.

I generally leave Mode in AUTO and let the scanner figure it out. Maybe I should try FM versus NFM.

okay - so you (GaryS) are exactly right. When I turned on my full DB to be scanning, I could then turn on ALL the service types. So - does this mean that now whatever service type I have in an FL, even with full DB turned off - will work now? I will let you know!
Maybe I should change the mode to AUTO.. Are you finding NFM to be muffled? I am finding that and FM to be muddled.. I have been using 2 scanners for Mass Sate Police for a while, and there is some talk on the P25 and it's "delayed" from the same talk on the older method, and the older method (Motorola Trunk) is much more clear.. Don't know why this is. But - thank you all for your help.. I have made great progress tonight - finally!
