I have a discrim tap and data slicer and am having a hard time setting up Trunker. The first thing I read on instructions was to add to the autoexec.bat in the c directory. I cannot find this file anywhere. Can somebody direct me to a good link to set up trunker? I am pretty technically inapt when it comes to this stuff. Thanks.

What operating system are you running? My guess is a flavor of Windows ...

You would be better off running UniTrunker if you are not comfortable with getting a DOS enviroment setup.

Crayon,
I'm trying to get LTRTrunk to work on my XP Home system. I have a slicer and can get it to work on a 98 box in a pure DOS enviroment. Will that boot disk work for my set up? If so, what do I need to do? The system I want to track is Chester COunty, PA.

aye.

There are some caveats:

1. If your hard drive is formatted FAT32 you can boot from the floppy and run LTRTrunk directly from your hard drive.

2. If your hard drive is formatted NTFS your are outta luck and will need to run everything from a floppy. I would make two floppies, one for the OS and the other to run the LTRTrunk program.

3. This completely ties up your XP computer for LTRTrunk. Ideally if you really serious about monitoring/scanning then get yourself a *cheap* computer and a KVM to keep everything nice and clean. (you did not say if the 98 box was yours or not ... ) Remember, this is a DOS program so I am talking like a P2 or an AMD K6-2 will be plenty enough horsepower.

Just dont forget to backup your LTRTrunker files on a regular basis! ;)

Crayon,
Thanks for the info!! I went to the website and downloaded some stuff but I got a disk not in proper format, or something to that extent. What I did notice was that there was a optoin for a DOS startup disk when formating a floppy. So I gave that a try and it works great! My C drive is NTFS so I use two disks. No big deal. Yeah, the 98 box is mine, but it's impractical to put it were I need it. Not enough space for another tower and not enough space in my wallet for a hoopty laptop :) Thanks again!!

Cool. Glad to be of some help!

Another option, if you have the room, is to install another hard drive in your XP tower and use your BIOS to dual boot the system. Usually on needs to hit F10 or F12 to select the BIOS boot menu during POST.
