The NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center has issued an alert for a possible G4 or greater solar storm. It may occur sometime later today (10 May 24) This is the first G4 watch issued by NOAA Space Weather in over 20 years. Alerts, Watches and Warnings | NOAA / NWS Space Weather Prediction Center

Here are the solar scales describing the effects of the different storm levels: NOAA Space Weather Scales | NOAA / NWS Space Weather Prediction Center

If it occurs, expect HF radio blackouts and auroras seen further south than usual.

Yes.. I'm actually watching 6 right now. Despite the solar flux being way up at 233, I'm not hearing any chatter on 50.125 and there's very little FT8 on 50.313

I've seen quite a few events in the past, but they were usually just a green glow with a few streaks, and low to the horizon. I had quite the advantage since I was working nights out in the oilfield and far away from light pollution. It was pretty amazing to see one this intense though.

If you have a modern phone, use night mode and steady the phone.
